The words
My child, when life becomes heavy, hold on to three things: love, faith, and hope.
Lord, when life becomes heavy, bring me back to what matters.
Teach me to love — not only when it is easy, not only when I am loved in return. Teach me to love with patience, to forgive when it hurts, to remain gentle when life gives me reasons to become hard.
Lord, give me faith. When I cannot see the road ahead, help me trust you anyway. When I do not understand what you are doing, remind me that I can still trust who you are.
And Lord, give me hope. When tomorrow feels uncertain, remind me that my story is not finished. When nothing seems to be changing, help me believe that you are still working. When I feel like giving up, remind me that darkness is not the end.
Love, when it is difficult. Faith, when I cannot see. Hope, when I cannot yet understand.
And when I forget all three, bring me back to you — because you are still here. You are still faithful, and there is still light ahead.
Amen.
A verse to hold on to
“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”
